According to CNN.com, the United States postal service was $10 billion in debt as of September 30 of 2009 which is uncomfortably close to their debt limit of $15 billion. The USPS is slated to meet with congress this week to determine how to best handle this budget shortfall for the immediate future. Some possible solutions to be brought to the table are consolidating centers, passing the costs on to the customers by raising rates once again and also adjusting the current mail delivery schedule from 6 days to 5.
